ePANACEA – Report on the use of innovative certification schemes and its implementation

This report aims to tackle current EPC challenges by proposing new features for implementation within existing schemes.

The document first summarises the state-of-the-art regarding European and international certification schemes, followed by a more detailed description of each key aspect to be taken into account within a building certification process. The review is mainly based on three pillars: (i) Current certification schemes in the five pilot countries of ePANACEA, (ii) International certification schemes and (iii) Standardised energy audit methodologies.

The last two sections include a modular approach and ePANACEA’s proposals. The modular approach consists of a list of individual features that could be added to the current EPC schemes for possible improvement in terms of accuracy, reliability, user-friendliness and cost-effectiveness. The ePANACEA approach section proposes the most suitable combinations or packages of such features to be evaluated and validated from the end-user perspective and included in the final ePANACEA methodology and its pilot Smart European Energy Performance Assessment and Certification Platform (SEPAP).
